5 Ways to Protect Yourself from Bank Spoofing Scams
07/22/2025
As technology advances, fraud schemes continue to get more sophisticated. This can cause great confusion for those on the receiving end, leading to stressful situations and unfortunate financial mishaps. So, how are you supposed to navigate these situations? Here are five tips.
Don’t Rely on Caller ID
Scammers can manipulate caller ID to make you believe that you're receiving a call from Seattle Bank. This is a common tactic known as “spoofing.”
Protect Your Information
If the person on the line asks for your private account information (PIN number, password, etc.), that’s a tell-tale sign that it’s a scam. Seattle Bank employees will never ask for this information over the phone.
Red Flag: Requests to Send Money
If someone is asking you to send a payment to resolve suspicious activity, end the call immediately.
Unauthorized Transactions
Do not share one-time access codes.
