Seattle Bank Partners with College Success Foundation To Support Underserved Students

Recognizing that times are challenging for many and that education is critical to opening doors of opportunity, Seattle Bank and College Success Foundation (CSF) have formed a partnership to benefit students and families throughout the region.

CSF serves the underserved, including young people from low-income families, foster youth and first- generation students. Seventy-one percent are students of color

“We believe that a thriving community needs strong partnerships and collaborations with the business sector,” said John Blizzard, President & CEO of Seattle Bank. “When we thought about our community and the impact we wanted to achieve through our corporate citizenship, the obvious choice was to partner with CSF. Helping students with immediate needs worsened by the COVID-19 financial crisis was the first step and supporting pursuit of their academic dreams is a longer-term investment in both them and our communities.”

This new partnership has four key components:

  1. Funding CSF’s COVID-19 Student Support Fund

Designed to help quickly respond to and meet the urgent needs of students and families, this fund helps provide:

  • Food, housing and transportation assistance
  • Technology for remote learning
  • Educational needs such as books, testing and application fees
  1. Creating the Seattle Bank Scholarship

Administered by CSF, this four-year scholarship will help an aspiring student overcome financial barriers to attend college and reach their academic potential.

  1. Launching the Seattle Bank Internship

For students interested in business, Seattle Bank will hold an internship for a rising college junior. This opportunity will support the student’s academic study with invaluable workplace experience in the banking industry.

  1. Volunteering

Whether it is lending their banking expertise, working with CSF to score scholarship applications or serving on committees, Seattle Bank employees are rolling up their sleeves to give back to their communities and are dedicated to helping the next generation of students succeed.

“We need more companies like Seattle Bank in our community,” said James Dorsey, President & CEO of College Success Foundation. “They diligently considered the challenges our students face along with the talents and resources they could provide and created a holistic partnership to benefit our community in many different ways. We look forward to growing this partnership over time to help improve educational equity for low-income students.”
