Seattle Bank Welcomes its Second Cohort of Operations Training Program Participants

Seattle Bank extends a warm welcome to the second cohort of our Operations Training Program (OTP). Jack Vanderpool, Leena Law and Quang Phan will be joining us for four months in which they will participate in a rare rotational experience that allows them to gain significant knowledge and firsthand experience in bank operations at Seattle Bank. By the end of the program, they will have a full perspective of the many areas that make the bank run and be able to step into their own respective roles as members of key departments.

After the Operations Training Program’s successful first year with the graduating class of 2022 officially joining our team, we continue to provide opportunities that develop and nurture the professional and personal growth of our employees, from offering volunteer hours and community contributions to our well-regarded OTP program and professional development training. We want to ensure that not only do we invest in local Seattle talent, but also equip them with the tools to grow and advance within our entrepreneurial and forward-looking banking team.

Meet Our 2022 OTP Participants

Quang Phan

Quang recently graduated from the University of Washington with his B.S. in Economics. Previously, he worked as a financial analyst intern at Amazon and AT&T.

Q: What are you most excited about learning in the Operations Training Program?

I am most excited to immerse myself in the different areas of the bank to get a better understanding of how the different departments work together to ensure that the bank can function properly.

Q: What inspired you to join the program?

I wanted to join the program as I saw the opportunity to work in different areas of the bank and hopefully be placed in the one that I see the most growth in.

Q: What interested you about working at Seattle Bank and what are your expectations working here?

I was interested in working at Seattle Bank because I wanted to learn the ins and outs of how a bank operates. I also wanted to help the people of Seattle in some way as I see Seattle as my second home now. I hope to dive deeper into many different aspects of the company and learn from everyone here.

Leena Law

Leena recently graduated from the University of Washington with a degree in Economics. She worked in different positions including customer service ambassador, business development executive and financial planning manager at DBS Bank in Hong Kong over the course of four years.

Q: What are you most excited about learning in the Operations Training Program?

I am most excited about the rotation part of this program because I can actually see from different points of view, for example I can see what mortgage processors do when rotating in their department. I’m excited to gain hands-on experience on how mortgage origination works from scratch.

Q: What inspired you to join the program?

I wanted to join the program because it gives me the opportunity to see different parts of the bank and learn about all aspects before moving to an official position.

Q: What interested you about working at Seattle Bank and what are your expectations working here?

I was inspired by how Seattle Bank is incorporating banking and traditional business with technologies which are trends no matter where we are in today’s world. I expect that I will grow together with Seattle Bank and gain new skills and experiences.

Jack Vanderpool

Jack is a recent graduate from Seattle University where he obtained a degree in finance and minored in Economics. He has experience as a finance intern at Ran-Tech Engineering and was a personal banking intern at KeyBank in Seattle.

Q: What are you most excited about learning in the Operations Training Program?

I am most excited about being a part of a forward-thinking bank that is adopting cutting edge financial technology to better service our clients, perform faster transactions, and provide more intuitive solutions to everyday banking issues. Through the rotational OTP program, I am excited to obtain a well-rounded understanding of how our teams operate and how departments can best work together to provide the most efficient service possible.

Q: What inspired you to join the program?

I joined the program because I was looking to get more well-rounded exposure to both the front and back offices of banking and the different aspects that allow a bank to operate efficiently.

Q: What interested you about working at Seattle Bank and are your expectations working here?

Since I had a background in banking with a national bank, being able to move to a smaller, more community-oriented bank was a welcome change. I look forward to growing my skills while the bank continues to grow and maintain their successful track record.

We look forward to providing valuable insights to our newest participants and gaining forward-looking, innovative members to the Seattle Bank team. For those interested in applying, stay tuned for updates as they become available. The job opportunity will be posted on our website whenever the application process begins!
